NSW: Kernot offered to stand for labor at NSW election

Former Labor MP CHERYL KERNOT reportedly offered to stand as an ALP candidate .. in
the New South Wales state election two weeks ago.

But News Limited newspapers say the offer was rejected by surprised Labor officials.

KERNOT .. who is living and working in London .. has told the papers her offer was
a short lived moment of madness.

The former Democrats leader defected to Labor in 1997 .. and was elected to parliament
in the marginal Brisbane seat of Dickson in 1998.

In 2002 .. it was revealed she had an affair with former foreign minister GARETH EVANS.
