Qld: Policeman bitten, spat on while breaking up women's brawl
BRISBANE, Aug 31 AAP - A police officer is undergoing medical tests after being bittenand spat on while breaking up a brawl between two women on Queensland's Gold Coast.
Police were called to the Coolangatta-Kirra Sports Club about midnight (AEST) lastnight and were trying to break up the brawl when one of the women grabbed the officer'swrist and bit it, breaking the skin.
She then spat on his face and hit him in the face causing bruising and scratching, police said.
The 34-year-old woman was taken to Coolangatta watchhouse where she spat on anotherpolicewoman and kicked her in the arms and groin.
She was charged with two counts of serious assault and will appear in a Southport court today.
A 31-year-old man who allegedly tried to stop officers from breaking up the fight hasbeen charged with obstructing police.
The policeman who was bitten has attended hospital for treatment and tests, police said.
