WA: Coronial inquest into the bushfire deaths of two women

A coronial inquest will be held into the bushfire deaths of two women last weekend
near the small town of Tenterden, 350 kilometres southeast of Perth.

Fifty-nine-year-old JUDITH WARD and 46-year-old LORRAINE MELIA perished as they tried
to outrun flames sweeping towards their property.

The government has since been criticised for not achieving its prescribed burning levels
for the year.

Police have received statements from two witnesses who saw sparks emanating from power
poles in Tenterden around the time the fire started.
